Welcome to Something a Little Special
The San Marino Mission District is certainly one of the most charming, intimate and enjoyable villages in the Southland, and Fancy That! delights in being an active participant in the neighborhood. We love to share our corner window displays with the shoppers who regularly stroll down the peaceful, tree- lined boulevard. And the calm, potpourri scented ambience of our boutique is a welcome respite from our often hyperkinetic daily lives.
Fancy That! came to be after owners Paula and Jim English retired from their successful careers in the Entertainment Industry. They’ve lived in Pasadena for nearly two decades, restoring two historic residences in the process. With their four daughters in varying stages of emancipation (we all know how that goes…), Paula and Jim next set their sights on pursuits they’ve long enjoyed: home design and décor, entertaining, holiday decorating and special occasion gifting.
In 2007, Fancy That! opened in La Canada/Flintridge and was an immediate success. In 2008 Jim and Paula opened another, larger boutique in San Marino to similar acclaim. They elected to focus solely on the newer location in 2009 when the responsibilities of running two thriving businesses began to take the joy out of the endeavor. Now happily ensconced on Mission Street, Paula and Jim continue to bring a delightful, unique and fanciful shopping experience for all to enjoy at Fancy That!
